Bottom line, they have been a very pleasant surprise for me so far. Salomon Sense Ride 4 Review A very well cushioned shoe that is optimal for heel strikers and makes for a great option for everyday training as well as ultra distances Price: 120 List 89. Durable, high-quality construction has shown no signs of wear thus far. At 19 ounces, the shoe is lightweight and feels noticeably energetic on the trail. Contagrip outsole and modest lugs excel over a wide variety of terrain and trail surfaces. This same design had failed on my Sense Pro 3 and the S/lab Cross shoes. Sense Ride 4 This updated version of the all-round SENSE RIDE is just as comfy and responsive with the soft Optivibe cushioning you love. The Sense Rides mesh upper and sock-like liner give it excellent all-around comfort. The upper effortlessly optimizes your foothold, particularly around the heel, and. It has great traction without lugs that get in the way on tamer trails or even pavement. The only thing that I am a bit uncertain of are the webbing loops the laces are running through. The updated Sense Ride 4 is just as comfy and responsive as the Sense Ride 3. It is protective without being too bulky or stiff. This wouldn't be ideal for a trail runner, and I think Salomon made a good choice. That's probably because adding a GTX membrane would reduce the breathability and add extra weight. ![]() My favorite trail starts 1.78 miles from my doorstep. But indeed, if your trail run begins with a mile or more of pavement en route, the Salomon Sense 4 Pro (140) is a truly special invention and one that backs up the slogan. They don't shine in any particular area but do everything pretty well. Salomon is not shy about the lack of waterproof membrane in the Sense Ride 4. The phrase road to trail is a marketing invention for most of the trail running shoe world. Sizing is consistent with the majority of the Salomon shoes. The durability of both the top material and the soles seems to be very good with no excessive wear after some 300 km if any appreciable wear at all. They fit my narrow heels and moderately wide mid and forefoot quite well even if the heel retention is not quite as secure as with the, let's say, Sense 8 shoes but probably pretty close to my old Sense PRO 3's. To my surprise though this does not seem to be a big issue with these shoes and I am able to use them for moderately technical mountain trails as well. I have ankles stability issues after multiple poorly treated injuries in my youth and was kind of apprehensive of the, comparing to the older s/lab lineup, higher heel stack. ![]() ![]() I planned to use them for dirt/gravel road running. The flexible and lightweight materials keep you light on your feet, and the responsive midsole adds a little extra spring to. This is a shoe that responds quite well on the trails, whether you are splashing through puddles or scaling difficult terrain. I purchased these after a rather disappointing experience with my s/lab Ultra 3 shoes (sole durability) just to save my other more pricey shoes from a premature wear. The Salomon Sense Ride 4, however, keeps things light, responsive, and most importantly, fun. Shop Guess for Her Search Within Women Search
